If the dishwasher in an apartment has stopped draining, a newer refrigerator has gone warm on one side, or a stacked washer-dryer in a townhouse has quit mid-cycle, you are on the right page.

Airway Heights is about half an hour west of the South Hill on the West Plains, next door to Fairchild Air Force Base. Appliance repair in your home, at the same rate as everywhere else on the map.

SD Appliance is Sergei Dergunov, working out of the South Hill since 2020 and repairing appliances since 2013. There is a military discount for active-duty service members and veterans, and this is the community where it comes up most often.

A young town, and mostly newer housing

Airway Heights has grown faster than almost anywhere in the county, and it did it recently. There were around 700 people here in 1960, and there are roughly 12,000 now, with most of that growth occurring after 2000, alongside the corrections center and the two casinos.

That gives it a housing profile with very little old stock and a notably young population: more than a quarter of residents are between twenty-five and thirty-four. About 71 percent of occupied homes here are rented, a higher share even than Cheney. Sergei’s read is that it is a newer neighborhood, not a high-end one.

For appliances, that means mostly newer units, many of them original to the house or apartment and belonging to a landlord rather than the person using them. Median household income here runs below the county figure, so the repair-or-replace question is a real budget decision rather than an abstract one, and the honest answer is worth more than the sale.

One consequence of a rental market that size is worth stating plainly. On many of these calls, the person standing next to the appliance is not the one who decides what happens to it, and the fastest way through that is a work order from whoever owns it, rather than a series of relayed messages.

Fairchild, and the military discount

Fairchild Air Force Base sits immediately west of town and is the largest employer in Eastern Washington, with more than 5,100 military and civilian personnel, a total base population of more than 12,900, and around 17,000 retirees living in the area.

SD Appliance offers active-duty service members and veterans 15% off labor. Asked what was behind it, Sergei said he just wanted to say thank you for their service.

Two practical notes for base-connected households. Ask about the discount when you book rather than at the end, because it is easier to apply then. And if you are in base housing rather than a home you own, the appliance may not be yours to authorize a repair on, which is worth checking before anyone drives out.

Full terms are on the financing page.

Getting out to the West Plains

About 16 miles from the South Hill and somewhere around twenty-five minutes.

Fairchild and the western edge

Fairchild is right here on the West Plains, and so are Medical Lake and the western edge of the county. All of it is charged at the South Hill rate with no distance surcharge and no minimum job size.

Scheduling, not price

The run west changes the scheduling rather than the price. Whether a visit can happen today depends on the hour you call, where the day already is, and whether the part is on the van, and you get that answer straight on the phone.

Same run, same terms

Four Lakes and the rest of the western edge of the county sit on the same run and are covered on the same terms.

What is not repaired, anywhere on the map

The list above is the whole of it. What falls outside is worth stating plainly, because it saves a phone call.

01

Repairs only, in your home

Appliances are not installed, a new unit is not set into cabinetry, and nothing is reconnected after a turnover or a remodel. The one exception anywhere on the site is a like-for-like garbage disposal swap.

02

Residential only

Houses, apartments, townhouses and rental units are all residential work. Commercial kitchens, restaurants and commercial refrigeration are not taken on: in his words, no commercial at all.

03

No shop, no drop-off, no factory authorization

There is no shop and no drop-off, so nothing gets carried anywhere. There is also no factory authorization here, which means manufacturer-warranty repairs are not performed. If your appliance is still under its manufacturer’s warranty, you will be told to use that coverage rather than being sold a repair you could have had for free.

Booking a visit in Airway Heights

1

The call comes to Sergei rather than a booking service. There is no call center and no dispatcher, so you are talking to the person who will do the work. Tell him the brand, the model number if you can find it, what the appliance is doing, and who owns it, because on a rental that last answer decides who authorizes the repair.

2

Common parts ride on the van. Anything less common is ordered in, and nothing gets ordered without your approval on the part and the price. Local counter stock for appliance parts is thin, so anything less common comes from out of town and takes a few business days.

3

The same person diagnoses it, prices it and does the work, on the first visit and again on the return visit if a part has to be ordered.

What the visit costs

Appliance control board and wiring harness
Service call
$89applied to the repair

The same $89 on the West Plains as on the South Hill, before any military discount. It covers travel, inspection and diagnostic time, goes toward the repair if you go ahead, and stands on its own if you decide not to.

Flat, upfront pricing

Once the fault is known you get a flat price for the repair, before any work starts, and the price quoted is the price paid. It does not move because the job ran long or because the part sat somewhere awkward.

30 to 90 day warranty

Parts and labor are warranted for 30 to 90 days as stated on your invoice. The full terms, exclusions included, are on the warranty page.

No weekend or holiday premium

There is no weekend or holiday premium. A Saturday, a Sunday or a holiday is billed like a weekday.

Financing & military discount

Zero-interest financing through Wisetack is available on repairs over $500 for eligible customers, and active-duty service members and veterans get 15% off labor. Terms are on the financing page.

Questions people in Airway Heights ask

Yes. 15% off labor for active-duty service members and veterans. It does not come off the service call or off parts. With Fairchild next door this is the community where it is claimed most, so ask when you book rather than at the end of the job. Terms are on the financing page.

No. Same rate as the South Hill, no distance surcharge.

Worth checking who owns the appliance and who authorizes the repair before booking. If it is housing-office property, that authorization has to come from them rather than from you.

Whoever owns it, which is usually the landlord or the management company. If you are renting, a work order is the fastest route. More on property management repairs.

Yes. A good share of what has been built here since 2000 is multifamily, and the units inside it are residential.

Usually yes on a newer machine with its first significant fault. On a worn-out unit, it often is not, and you get told which one you have before any money is spent. More on repair or replace.

Between 30 and 90 days depending on the job, and the exact term is printed on your invoice. Full terms here.

Zero-interest financing through Wisetack is available for repairs over $500 for eligible customers. Terms are on the financing page.

Very little. The town went from about 700 people in 1960 to roughly 12,000 now, and most of that arrived after 2000, so the appliances are mostly newer units on their first or second significant fault.
